| THIS LEASE, made and entered into this the 12th day of May,
1942, between Effie Moore, guardian for Ellen Combs and Georgia Lee
Combs, infants, children of Elijah Combs and Effie Moore, widow of Elijah Combs in her own right, party of the first part and Dave Combs, K. W. Fleshman and E. P. Ross, parties of the second part. WITNESSETH, that for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy-Five Dollars ($75.00) cash in hand paid by the parties of the second part to the party of the first part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said party of the first part doth hereby lease and let unto the parties of the second part for a period of six (6) years, beginning on June 1, 1942, all that certain tract or parcel of land containing 82 acres, more or less, situated on High Top on Allegheny Mountain in Bath County, Virginia and Pocahontas County, West Virginia, and being the same tract or parcel of land which was owned by Elijah Combs at his death. The parties of the second part covenant and agree that at the termination of the lease herein provided that they will surrender possession of said premises without notice to the party of the first part or the legal owners of said land. WITNESS the following signature this day and year first above written. EFFIE MOORE STATE OF KENTUCKY, COUNTY OF KNOTT, to-wit: I, W.R. Smith, a Notary Public in a for said county and state do hereby certify that Effie Moore, whose name is signed to the foregoing writing, bearing date on the 12th day of May, 1942, has this day acknowledged the same before me in said county.
