ARREST LEWIS CO. SLAYER IN KNOTT

Surprise Fugitive Last Wednesday, Collect Reward:
Sam Harris,
wanted in Lewis County for the alleged murder of a man named Parker,
was captured at 5:45 o'clock, Wednesday Morning of last week at the
home on the head of Right Beaver Creek, in Knott County, by Deputy
Sheriff Otto Fannin and Frank Hatfield of this county.
Harris was
returned to Vanceburg last week by his captors who received a reward
of $50.00 and expenses for the capture and return to Lewis County
authorities.
The accused
man had been a fugitive from justice since the murder of Parker last
year, and is said to have been a desperate character once driving
away officers who attempted his arrest. Learning that he was
staying at the home of a man named: Hall, Officers Hatfield and
Fannin reached the home before any of the household had arisen.
Hatfield threw open the window and leveled his revolver on Harris
while Fannin kicked in the door and ?(not readable) the fugitive
before he had a chance to reach his own gun.
