ARREST LEWIS CO. SLAYER IN KNOTT

Floyd Officers Surprise Fugitive Last Wednesday, Collect Reward:

Sam Harris, wanted in Lewis County for the alleged murder of a man named Parker, was captured at 5:45 o'clock, Wednesday Morning of last week at the home on the head of Right Beaver Creek, in Knott County, by Deputy Sheriff Otto Fannin and Frank Hatfield of this county.

Harris was returned to Vanceburg last week by his captors who received a reward of $50.00 and expenses for the capture and return to Lewis County authorities.

The accused man had been a fugitive from justice since the murder of Parker last year, and is said to have been a desperate character once driving away officers who attempted his arrest.  Learning that he was staying at the home of a man named: Hall, Officers Hatfield and Fannin reached the home before any of the household had arisen.  Hatfield threw open the window and leveled his revolver on Harris while Fannin kicked in the door and ?(not readable) the fugitive before he had a chance to reach his own gun.
