Dalton, Steve Critindon -87, of London, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky. Born October 16, 1917, in Laurel County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late John and Etta Combs Dalton. He was a member of the Annville Baptist Church and a retired heavy equipment operator for Bizzack Brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Dalton; two brothers, Calvin Dalton and Frank Dalton; and three sisters, Mary Edwards, Mayme Dalton and Reba Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Moore Dalton; a son Franklin D. Dalton and wife Judy; a daughter, Kathy Marie Dalton Brown; a daughter-in-law, Eula Mae Dalton; a sister, Geneva Dalton of Corbin; two grandchildren, Raleigh Stephen Dalton and wife Patti, and Stephanie Marie Brown Morgan and husband Scott; six great-grandchildren, Dalton Seth Morgan, Stephen Kendall Lee Dalton, Sage Marie Morgan, Stone Critindon Morgan, Kandice Reams and Jordan Johnson. Daniels, Bill  age 72, Greenwich, Ohio died Sunday, August 4, 2002 at Gaymont Nursing Home, Norwalk, Ohio after a short illness.  He was born January 4, 1930 in Garrett, Ky., the son of the late Charlie and Hazel Slone Daniels.  he had lived in Greenwich, Ohio for more than 40 years.  He served in the Army during the Korean War.  he attended Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Ky., and received his elementary education degree from Eastern Univ. Richmond, Ky.  He was employed for many years at the former Akron Standard Mold in Greenwich. He was a member of the Greenwich VFW Memorial Post 7492 and the Greenwich American Legion Mil Bow Mar Post 280.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruby Craft Daniels; a sister, Ruth Honeycutt, Harlan, Ky., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Allen L. Daniels, Doug Daniels and Raymond Daniels.  Visitation was held on Tuesday August 6, 2002 at Eastman Funeral Home, Greenwich, Ohio. Daniels, Ruby -73 years old of Greenwich, Ohio, passed away on November 6, 2003.  She married Bill Daniels in 1951.  Bill died on Aug 4, 2002.  She was a retired school teacher and taught several years at Wayland in Floyd County Kentucky. She was the daughter of Kendall and Eva Reynolds Craft. She leaves her mother Eva, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Little Memory Church, Sunman Indiana. Daniels, Ruthie A. -68, of Martin, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Healthcare. Born February 25, 1938, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Maxie Cooley Allen.  She was a librarian for the Floyd County Library Board, and a member of the United Methodist Church at Wheelwright.  Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law;  Donnie and Sandy Daniels of Melvin; a sister and brother-in-law, Eloise A. and Homer Lee Hall of Hueysville; and three grandchildren:  BreAnna, Allison, and Brett. She entered eternal life Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan being 44 years and 2 days of age at her passing. Catherine had worked in retail sales and was a loving daughter and sister. She is survived by her mother, Arlene McCullough of Colson; one brother, Thomas Darragh and wife, Teresa of Crawfordsville, Florida; and a niece, Rebecca Arnold of Tallahassee, Florida. Also surviving are a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Davidson, Carrie-Jan. 15, 1937 - Nov. 19, 2008age71, Alexandria, died Nov. 19, 2008, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Hindman, Ky., the daughter of George W. Everage and Bertha (Smith) Everage, and resided in the Alexandria area most of her lifetime.First and foremost, Carrie was a loving wife to her husband of 54 years. She remained at home to raise her three children, and her pride was in her home and her family.She was an avid NASCAR fan, and Dale Jr. was her favorite driver. She enjoyed playing bingo and Indiana University basketball, following Bobby Knight and was a loyal fan to the Indianapolis Colts. She never met a stranger. Carrie went through life extending love and friendship to all she met; now she is finally at peace. She was a 23-year member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary 1771. Carrie has served as Madame Chaplain, Madame Trustee and Madame Inside Guard. She has also served as charity chairwoman and as a member of the Ritual Team. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Elbert Davidson; daughter and best friend, Debbie Carver of Elizabeth, Ind.; two sons, Elbert (Maryann) Davidson Jr. of Indianapolis, and Jeff Davidson of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren, Lyndi Feller, Kyle Feller, Eric Davidson, Ashley Davidson, Chelsea Davidson, Brett Davidson and Zachary Davidson; three great-granddaughters, Laci Feller-McAdams, Samantha Medley and Kiah Davidson; four sisters, Gladys Mobley and Goldie Johnson, both of Plant City, Fla., Ada Dixon of Marion, and Sadie Combs of Hazard, Ky.; her faithful 4-legged friend, “Toto”; and several nieces and nephews. Davidson,  Randy Grigsby -age 54, formerly of Fisty, Ky., passed away June 29, 2007, at El Cajon, California. He was born in Wolf Lake In., on January 6, 1953, to Lee Davidson and Herma Grigsby. He was raised in Clerk Creek by his Aunt Zola Grigsby and his grandparents, Betsy and Goodlow Grigsby. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, Aunt Zola, and his grandparents. He is also preceded in death by his "adopted in love" mother, Allie Davidson of Fisty. He is survived by Aunt Polly Collins of Indiana, 7 first cousins: Zola Bennett, Mike Collins, Kay Collins Condict, James Collins, Jr., Dana Slone, Deborah Smith, Donna Becker, Teddy & General Hardigree, Dean Branam, and David Branam, and a host of other cousins. He was also survived by "adopted in love family" Joanne Davidson Holland, Kay Davidson Payne, Cheryl Davidson, Joan Davidson Sturgill, and Dean Davidson. Special caregivers in El Cajon are Bob and Sue Jordan, Kenny, Gina, and Jazz Bagley. Davidson, William R. "Bob" Age 79, of Dayton, passed away in his home Thursday evening March 30, 2006. He was preceded in death by his son Ronnie Davidson. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Lelia (Combs), daughters Patricia Agnitsch (Norbert) of Phoenix, AZ, and Theresia Davidson of Dayton, son Robert Michael Davidson of Dayton, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Mr. Davidson retired from NCR as a supervisor and later retired from the Ft. McKinley/Harrison Twp. Fire Department as Fire Chief. He was a member of Englewood Lodge # 743 F.&A.M. and American Legion Post #613. Elizabeth was a member of the Airway Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. She had been employed at the Golden Nugget Pancake House for thirty years exercising her gift of service. Elizabeth's life verse was Romans 14:8: "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lord's." Davis, Gary McClellan ~ age 57, of Pikeville, KY., formerly of Knott Co., passed away June 25, 2009, at the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a long illness.  He was born May 5, 1952, the son of Beech and Madesta Sutton Davis. He is survived by his wife- Deborah and a daughter- Allison Davis; Aunts- Pat Bradley, Thora (Jack) Parker, Rita Holowka, Jewell Cornett and Barbara Smith.

Davis, June -- age 83, of Topmost, wife of the late Walton Davis, passed away, Saturday, November 1, 2003, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.  She was born June 5, 1920, in Raven, the daughter of the late Dewey Gibson and Pearlie Patton Gibson. She was a member of the Topmost Baptist Church. Survivors include one brother, Cantrel Gibson of Topmost; four sisters, Ora Sawyers, Bonnie Harris, and Elva Blankenship all of Topmost, And Shelby Tessier of Newport, North Caroline; one grandchild, Tammy Tower of Flint, Michigan; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Meredith Davis. Funeral services for June Davis were conducted Tuesday, November 4, 1 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, at Martin, with Clergymen bob Wireman, Eddie Paige and Carl Mullins officiating. He resided in this area 24 years and was born in Hazard, ky., Jan. 2, 1928, the son of Nathan and Martha Combs Day. In 1978, he retired from Delco Air after 32 years of service. Deaton, Charles Age 78, of Franklin, OH; passed away Friday March 31, 2006 following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born August 3, 1927 in Breathitt County, KY to Whick and Reva Deaton. He was known by many, loved by all. He retired from General Motors following 30 years of service. He was a pastor to many, with churches in Germantown, OH and Franklin, OH. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a retired Machinist, a member of the Hueysville Church of Christ, a member of the John W. Hall Masonic Lodge #950 for 50 plus years. Survivors include, daughter, Eugenia Martin DeCoursey Hall of Wayland; 2 grandchildren, Brett and Eric Hall, one sister, Grace Dixon of Bucyrus, OH. and 1 brother, Edgar J. DeCoursey of Hindman. Denny, Fred Age 66 of Georgetown, Ohio died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Villa Georgetown in Georgetown, Ohio. Mr. Denny was retired after twenty-seven years ill assembly with Cincinnati Milacron. He was a United States Marine Viet Nam War veteran, a member of the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180, a Right Worshipful Brother of the Masonic Lodge F & AM #72, the District Deputy Grand Master of the Sixth Masonic District and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. He was born on May 12, 1939 in Hazard, Kentucky the son of the late Forest and Sarah (King) Denny. As a child he was raised by Fred Tipton of Middletown, Ohio and the late Leona Tipton. Mr. Denny is survived by his wife - Mattie (Keith) Denny, they were married on September 3, 1959; two sons, Brian Denny of Miamisburg, Ohio and Stacey Denny of Georgetown, Ohio; one daughter, Deborah Edmisten of Georgetown, Ohio; six grandchildren; one brother, Jim Denny of Ft. She was born December 16, 1914 in Floyd County, KY to Roach and Nancy (Bates) Thornsbury. She was a homemaker and loved to garden. She was affiliated with the Old Regular Baptist Church in Wabash. She is survived by 3 daughters: Mrs. Harold (Lora) McCleese, Wabash, Mrs. Max (Edna Louise) Parson, Wabash, Mrs. David (Amy) Feighner, Roanoke, IN; 2 sons: Kenneth ''Ken'' (Beth) Dials, Logansport, Billy Ray (Joyce) Dials, Wabash; 18 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 10:00am at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, IN. Diehls, George Francis 83, of New Mexico, formerly of Indiana, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the Heritage House. He was born May 2, 1921 in Janesville, Wisconsin the son of George Charles and Frances Anastacia (Burke) Diehls. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Phil) Howell of Shelbyville, Debbie (Bruce) Stephens of Milan; one sister, Helen Ames of Janesville, WI; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Diehls and one sister, Ann Hudson. He attended Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Pass, KY. He was employed for 20 years by General Electric as a purchasing agent and retired as a machinist in Cleveland, OH. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery, Milan. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was preceded in death 2Brothers- Mack Trent and Boyd Trent; 2 Sisters- Mae Amburgey and Minnie Trent. Marie is survived by her husband-James E. Dills; 4 Children-Alice Shortridge, Anita (Joe) Evans, James E. Dills Jr. and Helen (Milton) Jenkins; 2 Brothers- Lloyd (Joyce) Trent and Corsie Trent; 2 Sisters-Ollie (Gene) Pratt and Callie (Jimmy) Pence; Sister-in-law- Marie (Harold) Radabaugh; 9 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Hindman Funeral Services. Officiating minister will be Lindon Barger. Dingus, Winnie C.  age 86, of Martin, widow of Walter Clyde Dingus Sr., passed away, Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.  She was born April 5, 1917, in Carr Creek, the daughter of he late Chad Calton and Ada Taylor Calton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church at Printer.  Survivors include five sons: Walter Clyde Dingus Jr., Wilton Everett Dingus and Charles Wesley Dingus, all of Martin, Mark H. (Sally) Dingus of Payne, Ohio, and Thomas O. (Cathy) Dingus of Clintwood, Virginia; four daughters: Doris Evelyn Dingus of Martin, Lenora Mae (Zion) Swetnam of Birmingham, Alabama, Marlene Elizabeth (Jerry) Soard of Des Moines, Iowa and Dollie Wray Dingus of Danville, Illinois; one brother Hargis Calton of Indian River, Florida; one sister, Lilly Blevins of  Hot Springs, Colorado; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Chad Dingus, and one grandchild, Donna Dingus.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Bobby Lawson officiating. burial will follow in the Dingus Cemetery, at Martin, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.  Visitation is at the funeral home.

Disney, Donna M. 74, of Milan, died Monday, March 3, 2003 at Ripley Crossing Care Center in Milan. She was born March 4, 1928 in Smithboro, KY the daughter of Harrison Samuel and Raney (Blair) Frances, both deceased. She married Damon James Disney on October 11, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1995. Survivors include one son, Robert (wife Michele) Disney of Milan, one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Cathy) Elliott of Aurora, two brothers, Hubert "Huck" (Gertrude) Francis of Osgood, Harrison Sam (Alice) Francis of Swayzee, one sister, Mrs. Robert (Dale) Bell of Versailles, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hobert, Coy and Hastel Francis and one sister, Betty Francis. Mrs. Disney was a retired employee of Seagram's in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Sunman.  Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, March 6, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Methodist Church, Sunman, with Pastor Duane Loos officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may go to the Ripley Crossing Alzheimer's Unit. Dixon, Jake O. 68 of Spring Valley, Ohio passed away on Saturday Sept, 13, 2003 at Mercy Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati, Oh. He was born in Dayton, Ohio Oct 25, 1934, the son of Arthur and Mary (Jacobs) Dixon. Jake was a Army veteran and had retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 17, years, where he was a visual aid specialist in both the graphic and display departments.  He was an active member of the Ledbetter Road Church of God. He has many hobbies, including lettering signs and Indy race cars for more than 25, years. Jake never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.    He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Jack Dixon. Survivors included his wife of 46 years Jane (Weaver) Dixon; three sons and their wives, Bill (Ruth) Dixon of Bellbrook, Oh, Ken (Sally) Dixon of Kettering, Oh, and David Dixon (Beth Rogers) of New Carlisle, Oh; a brother Kenneth (Alma) Dixon of Kentucky, a sister Mildred (Bob) Weaver of West Carrollton; a sister-in-law Bonnie Dixon of San Jose, Calif; nine grandchildren Jimmy Manning, Ryan Sean, Jonathan Carilyn, Corey Chloe, Jordan and Phoebe Dixon and nieces and nephews and other family members and many special friends including the "Dippy Dozen".    Funeral services will be held Wed, Sept 17, 2003 at 10A.M. at the Ledbetter Road Church of God, 325 Ledbetter, Road, Xenia, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m on Tue, Sept 16, 2003,at the church. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Garden, Xenia. Dixon, Margaret Louise -74 years of age was born on December 1, 1930 in Harlan, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late William and Edna Herrin Stanford. She departed this life on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Riverview Health Care in Prestonsburg, Kentucky following an Extended illness. She was a homemaker, Wife, Mother and Grandmother and was a member of Praise Assembly Church of God at Water Gap in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. She was married to Harold W. Dixon who survives. She is also survived by three sons and one daughter: Harold Gene Dixon, wife Sherri of Garrett, Kentucky, Terry Lynn Dixon of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Gregory Keith Dixon, wife Kathy of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Janet Louise Bingham, husband Jeff of Auxier, Kentucky. She is also survived by one brother Jackie Paul Stanford of Liberty, Kentucky and by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son Michael Ray Dixon and by eight brothers and two sisters: Ernest (Duke) Stanford, Floyd Stanford, William Stanford, Robert Stanford, Danny Stanford Gail Stanford, Howard Stanford, Eugene Stanford, Edna Hunter and Pauline Collins. Dobson, Homer ~ age 71 of Raven, passed away January 19, 2010, at the Hazard ARH.  He was born September 23, 1938, in Raven, the son of the late Edgar & Laurie Slone Dobson. Dobson, Julia Mary (Stoddard) -age 40, of Raven, Kentucky, formerly of Lake Station, Indiana, died on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at her home. She was born on July 20, 1964, at Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of John Stoddard and Mary Lou Hammock Stoddard.She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Stoddard, Sr. and her brother, Norman (Skeeter) Stoddard.  She is survived by her husband, Randy; mother, Mary Lou Stoddard of Winnemac, Indiana; one son, Matthew Dean of Indiana; two daughters, Angela and Jordan Dobson of Raven, Kentucky; three borthers, Barry (Reasha) Stoddard, John (Jodi) Stoddard, and Jack (Laura) Stoddard; one sister, Laura Stoddard; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was and always will be a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.  She will be greatly missed.  Peace forever.    Memorial services will be announced at a later date, with Hindman Funeral Services, Hindman, Kentucky in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 2, 1923, in Knott County, Ky., the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Patton Moore. She was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Bee Baldridge of Eastern, Ky.; two daughters, Rosetta Hall of Jeff, Ky., and Ethel Green of In.; three brothers, John, Joe and Clarence Moore, all of Mousie, Ky.; one sister, Hester Patton of Hindman, Ky.; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2001, at the Ball Branch Old Regular Baptist Church, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Dowell, Laura M.-GALION -- Laura M. Dowell, 79, of 7750 Ohio 309, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Dowell was born May 14, 1928, in Big Stone, Va., to the late Reece D. and Allie R. Gamble Bowen. She married George Dowell on Dec.  8, 1949, in Harlan County, Ky., and he survives her.  Laura lived in Galion since 1974, having moved from Crestline. Mrs. Dowell was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Crestline. She worked at the former Geauga Plastics, Crestline, for 15 years, retiring in the late seventies. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, crocheting, camping and playing bingo. She loved to make fried bread and had a special friend in her dog "Pug."  Surviving are three sons and daughter, Duke and Sharon Quillen, Prospect, Kenny E. Dowell, Galion, Tom and Cindy Dowell, Lexington, Pat and Ron Roston, Galion; her special great-granddaughter, Brooke Ohler; 14 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith Cervenka and Ethna Robinette, both of Crestline. She was touched by an angel in her granddaughter, Christina. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, William, Joseph, Jim and Charles Bowen; and three sisters, Nannie Robinette, Mary Bowen and Hazel Dowell.  Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, conducted by the Rev. Gary Grant and the Rev. Ed Wilson. Downs, Aggie Jane Fields -age 71, of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Zephyrhills, Fla., died in an auto accident in Zephyrhills on March 10, 2006.  She was born July 9, 1934, the daughter of John H. and Bertha Watts Fields.  Aggie was a loving caregiver and formerly had her own service, called Aggie and Friends.   She worked as a nurse for Pasco Packing Plant, as an ER Technician at a hospital and was a retired nurse.  She worked for Disney World as a costume coordinator, and was caring for a loved one who has Alzheimer's Disease at the time of her death.  Aggie's love in life was using the God-given gift of lovingly serving others.   She began a Red Hat group in Blue Ridge and became involved with several older ladies she came to love dearly.   She also started and named a group called the Teacup Society, because she saw many lonely old women around who needed friends.  They came to her home to make fudge and for "slumber parties."  She was dearly loved by all.   Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Austin Smith and Bill Downs, and by brothers Loren Fields, Bennie Fields, Leland Fields, Elmer Fields and James Fields, an a sister Nora Fields Honeycutt.    She is survived by eight children, Gary (Diane) Meyer, Larrie Meyer, James (Donna) Meyer, Joseph (Lori) Meyer, Sheila Meyer (Wayne) Hankins, Michele Meyer (Rodney) Ferguson, "Chip" Meyer, John Meyer; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and the father of her children, Wilbur Meyer.  Two sisters also survive her, Daisy Fields Nickles and Nettie Fields (Walt) Honshell; and three brothers, Ova Fields, Melvin Fields and Simeon (Cora) Fields.  A memorial service will be held the first Saturday of August at the Fields Homestead Cemetery at the head of Nealy Creek on Carr (formerly May, Ky.), after the Watts Reunion, which takes place in Hindman at the Human Services Center.

Doyle, April Lynn Fair Slone -age 27 of Pippa Passes, passed away November 25, 2007, at home.  She was born November 1, 1980, at Hazard, the daughter of Elbert (Lora) Fair and Glenda Jacobs (Stanley) Slone (stepfather: Harry Flaheart).  She was a homemaker. She is survived by 1 son: Tyler Ray Slone of Hindman; 2 daughters: Courtney Lynn Slone of Hindman and Whitney Renee Doyle of Flemingsburg; 1 stepson: Byron Slone of Pippa Passes; 2 brothers: Ike Slone of Pippa Passes and Sam Fair of Fort Wayne, In.; 3 sisters: Helen (Danny) Akers of Mud Creek, Ky., Charlotte Fair and Jennifer Fair, both of Indiana; a very special friend: Danny Slone of Pippa Passes, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.Funeral services will be November 29, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Old Regular Baptist Church at Pippa Passes with Marion Huff, Kelly Slone, and David Daniel Jacobs officiating.  Burial will follow in the Slone Cemetery at Raven under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman.

Draughn, Ralph ~ age 88 of Garner, passed away June 24, 2009, at the Hazard ARH.  He was born March 28, 1921, in Knott County, the son of the late Troy and Lula Dyer Draughn.  He was a retired highway state worker and a US Army WWII Veteran.  He was the husband of the later Gertrude Combs Draughn. He is survived by 4 sons: Tommy (Paula) Draughn of Garner, Troy Kent "TK" (Denise) Draughn of Garner, Danny Ray Draughn of Lexington, & Ralph Allyn of Leburn; 1 step-daughter: Bobbie Sue Jacobs of Pippa Passes; 1 brother: Kelly (Madeline) Draughn of Leburn; 2 sisters: Freda "Sucker" (Wilson) Penick of Leburn & Louise Greenia of Mt. Sterling; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends.He was preceded in death by his parents & wife; 1 sister: Imalee Draughn Combs.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home at Hindman with Military Services performed by the Knott County DAV Chapter 1717 with Jimmy Hall officiating.  Burial followed at the Townsel Combs Cemetery on Upper Mill Creek at Leburn under the direction of the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman.

Draughn, Roger Dale -age 58, of Jackson, Kentucky, died on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born on November 4, 1946, the son of the late Olvin Jack Draughn and Darcus Ritche Draughn. He was a mechanic. He was preceded in death by one son, O'Neal Draughn and his parents.   He is survived by his wife, Pat Draughn of Jackson, Kentucky; one son, Ryan Draughn of Jackson, Kentucky; one daughter, Annette Draughn of Ary, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Etta Draughn; four grandchildren, Kayla Draughn, Matthew Smith, Emily Smith, Travis Fugate; and a host of aunts and uncles.  Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 28, at 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Jackson, Kentucky, with Reverend Tammy Smith and Reverend Susan Elkow officiating.  Pallbearers included Spencer V. Johnston, Brian Johnston, Roger Pollard, Jimmy Doyle Combs, James Smith, Henry B. Combs, Dan Campbell, David Matthews, Everett Smith, and Harve Smith, Jr.  Burial followed in the Ben Owens Cemetery, Fisty, Kentucky, under the direction of Breathitt Funeral Home, Jackson, Kentucky.

Duke, Raymond W. -age 83, of Blackey, Ky., died on Fri., June 4, 2004, at Letcher Manor Nursing Home, Whitesburg, Ky.  He was born on March 31, 1921, the son of John W. Duke and Elmira Mullins Duke. Funeral services were conducted on Sun., June 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Letcher Funeral Home, Whitesburg, Ky., with Tom Currie officiating.  Burial followed in Duke Cemetery, Blackey, Ky., under the direction of Letcher Funeral Home.

Duff, Edmond -age 78, of Morrow, Oh., formerly of Garrett, Ky.,  passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006, at his residence. He was born August 11, 1927 in Garrett, Ky., the son of the late Ira Duff and Nancy Combs Duff. Mr. Duff was a Master Plumber and Pipe Fitter, member of The Church of God,  Greenfield, In., The VFW and was an U.S. Army, World War II Veteran. Survivors include one son, Phillip Duff, Berea, KY., two daughters,  Phyllis F. Huff, Hamilton, Oh., Georgia Meadows, Fairborn, Oh., two brothers,  Enoch Duff, Greenfield, In., Dewey Duff, Michigan City, In., six sisters,  Shirley Lewis, Arlene Mize, Gertrude Day and Christine Scott all of Greenfield,  In., Magaline Hughes, Clint, Mi., Martha Roberts Garrett, Ky., five  grandchildren, Gregory Huff, Jeffrey Huff, Shain Duff, Lacy Vance, and Courtney  Duff, and five great grandchildren, Haley Huff, Michael Huff, Derek Huff, Skyler  Vance, and Destiny Huff. Funeral services for Edmond Duff will be conducted Wednesday,  Jan.18, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the Garrett Church of God, Garrett, Ky.,  with the Clergymen Donnie Bragg and Ira Scott officiating. Burial will follow in  the Duff Cemetery, Hueysville, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall  Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky. Duff, Laura Margaret Goble -age 58, of Newdale School Road, Timberville, Virginia, died on Tues., April 19, 2005, at her home.  She was born on Dec. 31, 1946, at Garrett, Ky., the daughter of the late George Amos and Eda Hill Goble.  Visitation was held on Thursday, at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., at 5 p.m.  Gravesite services were conducted on Friday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m., at Goble Cemetery, Prestonsburg, Ky.  Burial followed, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home. Duff, Linda Sue, age 56, of Langley, wife of Willie Duff, passed away Friday, May 16, 2003 at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.  She was born May 12, 1947, in Garrett, the daughter of the late Lacy Shepherd and Stella Hicks Shepherd.  She was a former employee of he First Commonwealth Bank, and a member of the Hueysville Church of Christ.  Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Willa Anita Joan Lykens of Langley; three brothers, Don Shepherd of Allen, and Danny Wayne Shepherd and Jimmy Shepherd, both of Garrett; four sisters, Lola Clock of Langley, Wava Turner of Garrett, Bonnie smith of Hazard, and Brenda Martin of Hueysville; two grandchildren, Breanna Michelle Duff and Conner Wade Lykens.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Ray Shepherd, and one sister, Clara Shepherd.  Funeral services for Linda Sue Duff were conducted Sunday, may 18, at 2 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Chester Ray Varney officiating.  Burial was in the Shepherd Family Cemetery, (Rockfork) Garrett, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.  Visitation was at the funeral home.  Pallbearers:  Mark Wedding, Tim Lykens, Kevin Thacker, Mark Wallace, Tim Shepherd, Wesley Moore, Harvey Martin, and William Smith.  Honorary:  Sterlin Turner, Danny Shepherd, Donald Shepherd, Cordis Smith, Jimmy Shepherd, and Teddy Click.

Duff, Lionel, 93, husband of Frankie Smith Duff, of Lexington, died Sat, Mar 10, 2007 at the Veterans Medical Center on Cooper Drive in Lexington. Born Dec 4, 1913 in Quicksand, KY, he was the son of the late Joe and Elizabeth Wooten Duff. He attended Morehead State College, Alice Lloyd College and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he received a degree in Elementary Education. In 1941 he and his wife, Frankie, started teaching in a two-room school in Decoy, KY, in Knott County, a community composed of 27 families, all related. As teachers their goal was to teach not only the three basic "R's" but also to include such things as pride of heritage, arts and crafts, music, and inspiration to do better. They shared a deep devotion to the cause of bringing light into darkness for children. They taught for thirty years. In 1944 he left teaching for two years to serve in World War II in the US Marine Corps. He participated in action against the enemy at Iwo Jima. After retiring from teaching, he was director of the Hindman Settlement School in Hindman, KY for several years. Other than his wife of 71 years, he is survived by one daughter, Carol Tucker and her husband Larry Tucker, Nicholasville, KY. He was a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren Mike Maynard and his wife Patti, Hickory, NC, Tammy Campbell and husband Steve, Lexington, and David Duff and wife Kim, Inez, KY and seven great grandchildren, Casey, Stephanie, Brett Campbell, Chris Maynard, Lakean, Madison and Dray Duff. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Miriam and son Douglas; and six siblings. Visitation will be Mon, Mar 12 from 5-7pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Tue, Mar 13 at the funeral home by Rev. Bob Justus with burial following in the Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Maynard, David Duff, Casey Campbell, Brett Campbell, Chris Maynard, Larry Tucker and Steve Campbell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of ones choice.

Duff, Simpson "Toad" -age 79 of Chavies, KY., died Saturday, September 11, 2004, at Hazard A.R.H. Hospital in Hazard, KY. Mr. Simpson (Pat's Note) Duff was employed by Ken Coal Co. He is the son of the Logan and Molly Duff. He is survived by his wife Wanda Duff. He is also survived by three sons; Joe Duff wife Danna of Chavies, Ky., Don duff wife Angela of Chavies, KY., and Bill Duff wife Teresa of Chavies, KY. Four Sisters: Betsy Jane Blyth (husband Bobby-deceased) of Waynesville, Oh., Thelma Davidson Husband Floyd of Clarkston, MI., Edna Mae Pelfrey (husband Bill-deceased) of Middletown, OH., and Sue Dell Stidham husband Thomas of Chavies, KY. Visitation services were held Monday, September 13, 2004 from 6-9. Masonic rites at the Maggard Brothers Chapel were held at 7PM. Funeral Services were held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at the Maggard Brothers Chapel. Rev. Norvell Gambill and Rev. Tommy Williams officiated. Note: this does not give the cemetery.

Dulcie, Lula Slone Hall -age 88 of Raven passed away July 10, 2007, at Hazard ARH. She was born June 6, 1919, at Garrett, the daughter of the late Jonas & Nora Ellen Bolyn Slone. She was a homemaker and wife of Ralph Dulcie. She is survived by 2 sons: James Ellis (Nada) Hall of Avon Lake, Ohio & Edwin Jardine Hall of Newton Falls, Ohio; step children: Charles Dulcie, Phoebe Dulcie & Elizabeth Dulcie; 1 sister: Marjorie Slone (Donel) Gibson of Elyria, Ohio; grandchildren: Donald (Barb) Hall, Chris Hall, Cathy Hall, Joan Hall & the late Sophia: 6 great grandchildren & 5 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, deceased brothers & sister: Elder Lawrence Slone, Raymond Slone, twin boys & Ruth Blackburn. Funeral services were held Friday, July 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Caney Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, Raven, with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial followed at the Jonas Slone Cemetery at Raven under the direction of the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman.
