FUNERAL OF J. B. FUGATE, HINDMAN ATTORNEY MASONIC RITES HELD
BY MEMBERS OF HINDMAN LODGE NO 689 F & A.M.
“The funeral of J. B. Fugate,
Hindman attorney and f a t h e r of Mrs. Claudia F. Leete,
of Prestonsburg, was held at Hindman on April 13,1905. Masonic rites w e r e
held,
and taking part in the funeral were members of Hindman Lodge No. 689, F. & A. M.
Carew Smith, a member of the lodge, served as photographer, and the photograph
which was taken 60 years ago is in a remarkable state of preservation.
Among those taking part in the rites were Knott county political, business and
civic leaders.
Only Dan Sturdivant survives. All left a heritage of service to their native
county and their state.
